I want to tell my children about Tesla and Elon Musk

The future that Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk is describing (Building a rocket so that humanity can move to Mars, because one day Earth won’t be able to sustain our population, and Tesla will shift the energy source from fossil fuel to renewable energy) I wasn’t that interested in his vision because it didn’t seem real; it sounded like fantasy. But I was wrong. It's becoming reality.

Tesla’s headquarter is in California on the West Coast. On the East Coast where I live, Tesla was hardly noticeable until last year. But this year, it is increasing at a tremendous rate. Until the first half of last year, I had seen only about one car a day. I've been seeing dozens of them every day since the beginning of this year. It seems to be full of Tesla in California.

What is Tesla? Who made it? Isn't it an expensive car that a rich man likes to show off on rides? I want to know a little more about Tesla and be able to inform my kids of the potential possibilities, all of which are amazing and awe-inspiring.

A big chunk of the market share of the luxury car companies such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, etc. has been taken by Tesla.  In the stock market, at a point, tesla stock market capitalization: price per share × the total number of shares issued was higher than that of all car companies in Japan and Germany combined.

In the future, they will start selling a line in $20k class. Then, isn't it going to start taking share from Toyota's Corolla or Honda's Civic? Is Japanese car industry going to be okay? It's not okay.

What will happen by the time our children drive?

The reason I'm writing this blog is because I want to tell my children about this. I also wanted to tell my nephews and nieces, my friends' children and tell more kids about this. I hope that even one mother or father who is raising children could read this blog and be interested in the topic and talk about it with their child, maybe watch YouTube videos on the topic and plant a seed of curiosity, a dream or even ambition in the kids’ heart.

I was always concerned seeing my children. My kids come back home from school after they study math and English at school, but when society is changing drastically, I wonder if it's okay to learn only what school has been teaching in the same curriculum as before. By the time they go to university, I want them to be educated enough about what is happening in society. School textbooks only contain what has happened so far. It doesn't teach what's going to happen, but I have to educate my kids what they need to know.

Back to Tesla's story.

Let me try to remember what happened in the world of mobile phones in Japan a long time ago.

I'm going to copy and paste what I've looked up on the internet here.

Until the late 2000s, feature phones (so-called garakei) were in full use, and domestic home appliance manufacturers such as Panasonic, Sharp, and Toshiba sold major models and performed well. However, the situation changes completely with the iPhone3G that appeared in 2008. In the 2010s, smartphones were in full use, and domestic home appliance manufacturers that had developed many terminals had to struggle, and as a result, many manufacturers withdrew from the smartphone market.

(Copy and pasted above)

One investor says that what happened in the mobile phone industry will also happen in the car industry. Are you serious? Companies that are not focused on electric vehicles will be culled, and only companies that are working hard to develop electric vehicles will survive. After that, the era of individuals owning cars will end once the autonomous driving technology that Tesla and other companies are currently working hard to make is completed. Car sharing equipped with autonomous driving technology will eliminate the need for individuals to own cars. So, the pioneers of autonomous driving technology will win.

You can imagine what our future would look like watching this YouTube video.

Is it really gonna happen ??? What do you guys think? Personally, I am very interested in your opinions, so if you have time, I would be happy if youTu could leave comments!

Another topic I want to talk about today is about Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

When Elon Musk was a child, he liked books so much, and he read all the books in the library, so he asked the librarian to buy more books.

One day, Elon’s parents bought him a computer, and he had so much fun, he didn't sleep at night for three days. On the third day he fainted.

When Elon was a young adult, he started an online content company called Zip2 with his brother. Zip2 was later acquired by Compaq for $370 million. When the company was acquired, Elon came in with $22 million. What I really genuinely respect Elon for is that he did not choose the path of just an easy life. Elon started his next business with this money. He did not care to have an easy life but he cared to always create value with his passion and knowledge and hard work in the world. Elon started his new business with an online banking service. It was a company that would later become PayPal. Elon became a major shareholder in PayPal. Later, when eBay acquired PayPal, Elon came in with $180 million. $180 million! Again, he did not choose an easy life in retirement using this money, instead he started making rockets!  Crazy!! Even though he is not a rocket engineer, he invested all his money towards his beliefs! Elon actually started making rocket parts with his colleagues looking at the manual of the rocket. Continuing to fail in rocket launches, the money he got from PayPal aquisition ran out and he was living in the basement of his girlfriend's dad's house at the time.

When he joined and took over Tesla, Elon thought chance of survival and success would be 10 percent. It has now grown into a company that threatens even the car manufacturer mogul.

He is developing new businesses one after another, such as tunneling underground as a solution for the traffic jams in Los Angeles, and aiming to implant a chip in the human brain, enabling you to control your electronics telepathically.

This guy is crazy. A good kind of crazy. I want my children to understand and admire his vision and hard work. He is not living for his own pleasure. He is working really hard for humanity. There may not be such a person in our lifespan, so you may not feel so much empathy or emotion, but aren't there many aspects where you can learn about his attitude toward work?

I can't do it. I have been moved by Elon. I have been inspired by his mission. But I can't work like he does because I have young chicks to take care of who are my first priority. The best I can do is tell Elon’s story to my kids and inspire them!!
