Again, I want to tell my children about "Climate Change"

Do you have any thoughts about global warming?

My family talk about it often.

When asked if I feel that the earth’s temperature is rising gradually in my daily life, I will answer yes. When it snows every winter, we remove the snow around our house and sprinkle salt. I noticed that the amount of this salt we use is a lot less than 10 years ago. Back then when my daughter was a baby, I bought many large bags of salt for just one winter. However, in the past few years, there was a winter where I did not even finish one small bag of salt. When I am asked if there is any situation where I feel climate change in my daily life, I would say that I can feel it as the number of trips to the store for salt decreases.

But when you hear some people talk about the possible horrific consequences of climate change, I question it. At least that will not happen tomorrow or day after tomorrow, so I am not taking it as a problem that needs to be fixed right now. I have to admit my no sense of urgency or ignorance for this serious problem. What I need to cook to feed my family occupies 50% of my thoughts every day, so if it's not a problem I need to do something about right now, I would think, “Ok let’s do some research on it and think about it later when I have time. One week passes, then two weeks, and soon a year passes without taking any action.

In Japan, the indoor temperature of the offices is set to 28 Celsius degrees (82.4 Fahrenheit degree) in summer, and in winter, the indoor temperature of offices is set to 20 Celsius degrees (68 Fahrenheit degree). Everybody gives up keeping the most comfortable room temperature to just make a difference in curbing global warming.

I remember that it was certainly cold in winter and hot in summer in the office of the company I worked for before I moved to the U.S. Now, when I return to Japan, inside temperature of trains is hot in summer!

Again, everyone contributes to curb global warming by giving up the most comfortable room temperature.

In the United States where I live, at first the only thing I could think was, “Why is the office so cold in summer?”

Office buildings become like refrigerators in summer. It depends on the location, but when I was working in Manhattan, the office was hot like a green house in winter. In Japan, the office was cold in winter and hot in summer, but in the U.S., it was hot, like sweaty hot in winter, and it was cold to the point where I was wearing layers in summer.

Is there any reason for the U.S. not to be sensitive to global warming? Is it about the oil industry? President Trump withdrew from the Paris Agreement. President Biden returned to the Paris Agreement after taking the office. I will talk about this again at a later date.

Now, I would like to tell you about a few of serious impacts of global warming that I thought I had to tell my children.

First, the sea level rises. Watch this SHOCKING youtube video.

Secondly, wildfires caused by rising temperatures due to global warming and drought caused by climate change. One morning in September 2020, a friend of mine who is a California resident was sleeping and shouted down by her husband shortly after 9:00 a.m., opened the blinds in her bedroom, and saw a view of orange. What's burning around the house??!! She opened all the blinds all over the house, and when she looked outside, she saw cars commuting to work, and she said that she felt like he was having a bad dreaming. she was serious about moving to another state.

This is the current situation in Miami, Florida, a vacation destination that many people often visit from NJ State where I live. It is an English video.

This video tells us how oceania's Solomon Islands are affected by rising sea levels.

This video will tell you about the coral reef crises around the world.

That climate change is affecting coral reefs...

I think global warming and climate change is definitely one of the major challenges that our children’s generation must address.

Here, I would like to remember again the causes of global warming.

I  am usually laid-back, but I have become worried about the future of the earth.

In the next blog, I would like to talk about what we should be working on right now and what kind of activities are being done in the world.
